Causes and Prevention of Men’s Hair Loss

In case you think that men don’t care about their looks and appearance, then I’m afraid you are wrong. Men these days are very concerned about their appearance. The reason is simple. We are living in a society where it is important to have good looks with a healthy physical appearance. When talking about good looks, the first thing which comes to mind is the hair.

The hair gives added beauty to the face. I’m sure many of you men are aware of that. Men’s hair loss has become a serious problem these days and is being taken very seriously by men, who go to any extent to get their hair back. Hair loss is when you are losing more the normal hair.

Usually men lose around 50 – 70 hair strands a day. When you lose more than that, it is referred to as loss of hair. According to research, more than 90% of men’s hair loss occurs due to a conditon known as androgenic alopecia. It is also known as male pattern baldness.

The main reason why this happens is because of heredity and due to excess hormones in the body. Heredity refers to your dad or grandfather. Don’t be surprised when you end up having hair like them. So, when you start losing hair, immediately contact a doctor who can help you.

When the body forms excess hormones of testosterone the hair follicles become weak resulting in loss of hair. DHT or dihydrotestosterone is formed when testosterone combines with androgen. Your hair follicles are sensitive to DHT, when these hair follicles are exposed to DHT. They shrink and eventually fall out causing that area to become bald.

When you find that your hair is becoming thinner and not growing, this is sign you are losing hair and it needs attention. In some cases hair loss occurs even at a young age and by the time the person reaches 30, he is bald. Hair loss usually starts at the age of 35 or 40. There are other reasons for loss of hair such as stress, nutritional deficiency, and illness.

Another reason for men’s hair loss is when their jobs require them to wear helmets and hard hats, causing injury to the scalp. You need to be aware of your treatment alternatives so that you can stop hair loss earlier. There are solutions to avoid hair loss. You need to make sure your diet includes foods rich in vitamins, magnesium, and iron. Foods like fruits, leafy vegetables, egg, milk, almonds, etc., should be taken.

If you smoke and drink, then you will have to stop it completely as it causes your hair follicles to weaken, which results in balding. You can also try natural herbal remedies like coconut oil mixed with lime and pumpkin seed extract. Hair oil massages with these oils are very useful, as they increase blood flow in your scalp.

The key to avoid getting bald is to take timely action when you start noticing you are losing your hair.
